Build Africa Kenya Trustees

Build Africa Kenya’s board members have a wide range of skills, knowledge and relevant expertise to help ensure that the organisation operates effectively.

Caleb Kiprono - Board Chair

Caleb is the Founding Executive Director of the Youth Agency for Development of Science, Technology and Innovation (YADSTI), a Kenyan-based Initiative of young scientists whose goal is to engage the youth in promoting science, technology and innovations (STI) as a tool for sustainable development in Kenya and the rest of Africa. Through YADSTI, he has been involved in several youth-oriented initiatives and community development efforts locally and internationally. He is the Vice Chairman of the Ministerial Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on Changing Course in Kenyan Agriculture (CCKA), Kenya’s implementation mechanism of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP). He is also the Chairman of the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Scholarship Beneficiaries Association (JKFSBA), an organization that works to support the education of bright but underprivileged students in Kenya to access secondary education. His academic background is in Computer Science, with a degree from the University of Nairobi.

Alice Adhiambo Onono - Treasurer to the Board

Alice has an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Kenyatta University. She has over 10 years' experience in areas of finance and strategy gained from diverse industries, as well as valuable knowledge on the operation of resource planning systems, policy development, compliance and corporate governance. She is currently working as a manager at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.

Jacqueline Athieno - Board secretary

Jacqueline is currently working as a regional Human Resource and Administration manager at Relief International, supporting Kenya, Ghana, Guinea, Niger, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan. Her administrative functional area includes human resource systems, recruitment, compliance, staff capacity building and development, salary administration, employee relations, benefits and operations management. Jacquilne holds an MA in project planning and management from the University of Nairobi and a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management from the Institute of Human Resource Management Kenya.

Consolata W. Ngondi

Consolata has 22 years of work experience both as a consultant and executive manager. Currently, she is a technical advisor on democracy, rule of law, access to justice, gender, human rights and governance for UN agencies, commisions and other NGOs. She is also a legal practitioner with Houghton and Associates Advocates and Ngondi and Associates Advocates. She holds a master of law (LLM) from Yale University, a legal diploma from the Kenya School of LA and a bachelor of law from the University of Nairobi. Consolata is also a board member of VSO Jitolee and the Character Counts Initiative.

Dr Simon Waithaka

Simon has a PhD in Entrepreneurship from JKUAT, an MBA in Finance and Strategic management from Methodist University and a diploma in Science Education, Mathematics and Physics from Kagumao College. He is currently working as the CEO of SISDO Microfinance institution. Simon is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Institute of public Secretaries of Kenya and the Association of Microfinance professionals of Kenya.

Damaris Michoma

Damaris has over 20 years' professional experience in the NGO sector which includes recruitment, employee placement, performance management, management of employee benefits and training programmes, human resource information systems, procurement management, project management, strategic thinking for HR professionals and the new labour laws of Kenya. Damaris is currently working at the African Economic Research Consortium as a human resource administrator. She is a member of Institute of Human Resource Management, International Culture Youth Exchange and the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply. Damaris has a masters in Human Resource Management from JKUAT, a higher diploma in Human Resource Management and a diploma in Procurement and Supply.
