Build Africa Uganda’s board members have a wide range of skills, knowledge and relevant expertise to help ensure that the organisation operates effectively.

Jimmy Onesmus Adiga - Chair of the Board

Jimmy works as CEO of BRAC Uganda Microfinance. He has over 16 years' experience with both local and international banks in Uganda. He has previously worked as Executive Director of Opportunity Bank, Assistant Vice President Retail Lending for Barclays Bank Uganda and as Head of Credit for Post Bank (Uganda). He brings a wealth of experience in risk management, strategy, policy formulation and implementation, as well as training and capacity building. Jimmy holds a Master’s Degree in Development Economic (UMU Nkozi), a diploma in Microfinance and Banking from Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services (Kampala) and a Bachelors of Science degree in Economics (MUK).

Julius Byamukama

Julius is currently working for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the British High Commission, Kampala and for the Department for International Development as a Senior Procurement Manager. Previously, he was a faculty member and lecturer at the International Law Institute, the College for Professional Development, an accredited ACCA UK Tuition Provider, and has also served as a lecturer engaged in teaching ACCA students. He is pursuing an MBA from the University of Leicester, he was admitted to Graduate Membership of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators International ICSA London UK; he has a BA in Office and Information Management.

Apili Evelyn Clare Ejupu

Apili is currently working as the National Project Coordinator of the Northwest Smallholder Agricultural Development Project with the Ministry for Agriculture. She has previously worked as an agricultural economist for the Ministry for Agriculture, a Research Analyst with IFPRI 2020 Vision Network for East Africa, agricultural economist with the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit of Department of Agricultural Planning, of Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries of the Government of Uganda. She has a PHD in Agricultural Economics at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, a Msc. in Agricultural Economics from Wye College, University of London and a Bsc. in Agriculture.

Jean Kasirye Mutabazi

Jean is currently working as a financial controller for the National Social Security Fund in Uganda. She has an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, a Bsc. in Quantitative Economics from Makerere University Uganda and is also certified by the ACCA. She has previously worked for AAR Health Services Uganda as a financial controller, Techno serve INC, Uganda as a financial controller, Diamond Trust Bank Uganda as an Assistant Head of Finance and Administration, Nile Bank Limited as a Business Support Manager and Procurement Officer, Ernst and Young as an Audit senior.

Florence Ssewanyana

She is currently working as an Executive Director with Evana Media Bureau and is a member of the Prisons Authority. She has worked before as a secretary to the Commission of inquiry into the Kasubi Royal Tombs Fire, She was assigned to act as the Director of Broadcasting, Principle Information Officer with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Senior Information Officer with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Information Officer with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. She has a Masters in Policy Studies from the Southern African Regional Institute for Policy Studies and a BA (Hons) in Social Science. Her area of interest/specialization is in broadcasting, public relations, publishing and information.

Forough E. Olinga

She is currently working with VECO Uganda as a Gender Mainstreaming Expert. She has a Masters in Gender and Women Studies and a Bachelors of Social Sciences. Her area of interest/specialization is in Development especially enterprise, education, gender, HIV, and environment, community mobilization and Business or NGO leadership, change management and OD.

Arthur Mutaremwa

He is currently working as a consultant with Strengthening Decentralization for Sustainability, a programme supporting local government. He has previously worked for Care International in Uganda as a Human Resources Director and the Uganda Management Institute as a Human Resource Training Consultant. He has a Msc. in Human Resource Administration from the University of Scranton (Pennsylvania, USA), Bachelors of Arts from Makerere University and Administrative Law from Law Development Centre in Uganda.

Sempanyi John Nakedde

John is currently working as a Development Consultant with the Swedish Embassy in Uganda. He has previously worked for Plan International Uganda as an Economics Advisor, focusing on microfinance, the European Development Fund's Urban Small Scale Enterprise Development Programme as a Credit Officer/ Capacity Development Assistant. He has also taught in various schools. He has an Msc. in Development Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in War Intervention and Development, both from the Open University, a M.A in Administration and Planning in Education from Makerere University and a BA in Economics and Education from Makerere University.

Tom Kakaire

Tom currently works for the Infectious Diseases Institute, Uganda as a Senior Manager of Grants and Contracts.He has an M.A in Development studies from Uganda Martyrs’ University, a postgraduate Diploma in financial management from Uganda Management Institute, Bachelors of Business Administration from Makerere University and a Higher Diploma in Marketing from National College of Business StudiesHis area of interest/specialization is NGO governance, organizational development, business development, grants and contracts negotiation and management, project planning and management, research administration as well as finance and operations.
