A Selection of Messages from Build Africa Supporters
We are always grateful for feedback from our wide range of valued supporters, below are some of the messages of support that we have received:
Build Africa Corporate Supporter, The Brookwood Partnership Ltd
In the following letter Kate Martin, Managing Partner at The Brookwood Partnership Limited, tells us why her organisation was inspired to choose Build Africa as their preferred charity:
Build Africa Fundraiser, Jean-Pierre Darque
Jean-Pierre Darque describes why he decided to run the 2010 London Marathon for Build Africa:
"I was inspired initially by a photo of my friend Richard Thomas who visited one of your schools in Africa, and I picked up some leaflets some three years or so ago. I have always been interested in helping children in developing countries and Build Africa fulfils that desire. As a former treasurer of a local charity, I am careful as to where money is spent and I did some research. I found that Build Africa had excellent credentials and seem very good at what the charity is doing...I am happy to put in the hours of training in the hope that my efforts will make a difference to children in the countries where you operate."
Build Africa Patron, Richard Dowden
Richard Dowden, Director of the Royal African Society, explains why he has chosen to support Build Africa:
"I am a Patron of Build Africa because this organisation lets local people in rural Africa choose how they want their area to develop. I hope to be able to promote Build Africa and its approach as a model for outsiders who wish to work in Africa. If Build Africa gets its relationship with Africa right, its achievements will last and leave a legacy of progress that can be sustained by local communities into the future. Land is Africa's most precious and enduring wealth. Fertile areas of Kenya and Uganda could produce great wealth for their inhabitants. Build Africa is working to unlock that potential".
Build Africa Intern, Will Barsley
Student Will Barsley sums up his experience working with Build Africa:
"I got the chance to spend a summer volunteering for Build Africa in the UK and Uganda. Both were eye opening experiences for me. To see how much work goes into the running of a charity and the dedication of the staff working at Build Africa was amazing. It takes a lot of work to get people to donate to a cause that you feel so strongly about...working in Uganda showed me just some of the hardships that people have to go through every day and the impact that just a small amount of money can have."
