Get your school involved
Would your school like to develop a link with a school in Kenya or Uganda and gain insight into the day to day lives of many children and young people in East Africa? By supporting Build Africa your school could impact the lives of thousands of young people in the communities where we work.
Many children in Uganda and Kenya are being taught in temporary and unsafe classrooms with little, if any, facilities. These schools are in desperate need of our help. Children at these schools all love to learn but long for a proper classroom, desks, toilets and even text books: something we all take for granted in the UK.
By supporting Build Africa your school could sponsor these schools and help provide the children with permanent classrooms, toilets and desks giving them hope for a brighter future.
Benefits
The link is a unique opportunity for your school to broaden its vision of community action and citizenship. Build Africa would provide you with the following:
- a full profile of your link school, giving you details of its urgent needs and successes;
- regular contact between schools in the form of letters, photograph and pictures;
- a DVD about Build Africa's work;
- lesson plans that explore the culture surrounding your school;
- great fundraising ideas that have a proven success record;
- the opportunity to visit the school you have supported*;
- possibilities for students to complete an internship in the UK or Africa.

"It was amazing to see Malera Okouba before the work had started. It was emotional and shocking, but also a place full of hope with inspirational people, pupils and teachers. Knowing we could change the lives of these meant a lot to me." Hilary Ballantine - teacher currently partnering with a school in Uganda, after a recent trip.
