Running for Africa
15 May 2009
On April 26 2009, more than 35,000 runners manoeuvered their way through the streets of London on a picture-perfect day of sunshine and blue skies. (Yes, this was in fact the London Marathon.) And twenty six grueling miles later, we owe a tremendous thank you to our five marathon runners who truly went the distance. After many months of training, mental preparation, and fundraising, these Build Africa supporters raised well over £15,000 that will now benefit hundreds of young people in rural parts of Kenya and Uganda.
Build Africa would like to thank all their marathon runners (Richard and Matt Thomas, Build Africa Trustee Phil Vernon, Alan Wilson, representing his employer SELB, and Kim Valentine, representing her employer The Consortium) for their determination and continued support of our organisation and everyone who helped them to achieve their fundraising goals.
