The School Tie Appeal

1 April 2009

Do you want to ‘tie' in with a School in Africa? Join Build Africa's school tie appeal and support a school in East Africa.

The Link

Build Africa are offering UK schools the fantastic opportunity to partner with schools in rural Kenya or Uganda.  Build Africa is offering two kinds of links that are mutually beneficial and tackle head on the key issues facing schools in Kenya and Uganda.

Fund the building of classroom so that the children will have a safe environment in which they can learn.

Or support the running of one of our schools. The donation would fund much needed teacher training, HIV/AIDS and gender awareness training as well as basics such as books and desks.

The link is a unique opportunity for your school to broaden its vision of community action and citizenship. Build Africa would facilitate the link, providing you with the following:

  • a full profile of your link school, giving you details of its urgent needs and successes;
  • regular contact between your schools in the form of letters, photographs and pictures so your students can really connect and identify with their African counterparts;
  • annual feedback on your partner school so you will be able to monitor its progress and see the difference that your support has made;
  • a DVD about Build Africa's work;
  • five lesson plans that explore the culture surrounding your school, the issues facing Africa and how to fundraise;
  • great fundraising ideas that have a proven success record!

Fund a classroom and we would love to offer you the opportunity to visit the school you are linked with.
