Making a ‘World of Difference'
23 September 2009
Rebecca Webb, one of eight winners of the Vodafone Foundation's 2009 World of Difference International Programme, proved that she was indeed ready to make a difference to the lives of young people in rural areas of Kenya and Uganda. As the charity she chose to work with for one year, Build Africa is proud to welcome Rebecca to the team.
Hailing from Kent, Rebecca is a Vodafone store manager whose experience in charity fundraising helped her shine above 1,000 other candidates to win a year of development work in Africa, all expenses paid by Vodafone.
Based in Nairobi, Rebecca will be working alongside Build Africa staff to help improve the quality of education at the schools we work with in Uganda and Kenya. She will help to increase parental involvement, improve the standards of teaching and learning, assist and strengthen school management and increase gender and HIV/AIDS awareness.
As stated on the Vodafone Foundation website, Rebecca is very excited about the opportunity that has been awarded to her: "I am so grateful that the Vodafone Foundation has given me the opportunity to work with Build Africa to make a huge difference to the lives of young people in Uganda and Kenya. I believe that a good education should be available to everyone and I am so happy to be part of a project that will improve the quality of young peoples' lives and provide them with a brighter future."
Welcome Rebecca!
